Reaching Out

On Thursday, November 30,2012 I was invited back to Villa Rica High School. I was very pleased to see the turn out of the students to the assembly being that it was voluntary. The focus for the assembly was to touch on the number of students that don't return to school after Christmas break. We talked again about the importance in graduation and staying on task even after graduation. The idea of starting an outreach program was discussed again and the students loved it.

Not only were the students very respectful to me,but they were attentive to one another and listened to what their fellow peers had to say. (top photo). After the assembly was over I had a few give a ways for the students that asked questions and shared their comments and concerns (bottom photo).

In my previous path of work, I work predominantly with African American students. I was extremely pleased to see the turn out of the African American males and their anticipation on trying to find as many ways possible to help them stay on track and graduate.
